Tank Toppers
Watched a YouTube video from Jarden Aquatics about making inexpensive tank toppers. While the video is pretty bad, the information in it is pretty decent.
I have 45 tanks in my fishroom, and am constantly breaking the glass tops for some reason. I am also always cutting myself on the edges of them, also for some unknown reason.
This material presented in this video is both 'unbreakable', doesn't have sharp edges. It's also easy to cut, clean and way cheaper than glass.
Here is the link to get it at Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sunlite-24-in-x-96-in-Polycarbonate-Clear-Multiwall-Roof-Panel-132506/202091947
One sheet covered 8 20H's, so that works out to $5 a cover. Not too bad. Time will tell about it's durability, but with it's actual intended purpose being a roof panel, it should last sitting on top an aquarium.
egg crate
I used eggcrate over a 55 so I could rest a light over the top. It was cheap enough, I also used it for tank dividers but obviously small fish can get through. What's the difference between plexi glass and poly carbonate?

Re: Tank Toppers
The polycarbonate isn’t solid like Plexi. More like a bunch of tubes glued together. Solid but light.
