Club Promotion at Petco

Since we should have our fancy new shirts today or tomorrow, I'm going to ask Petco if we can set up there the weekend of the 16th or 23rd.

If you are able to come sit and talk fish with people on those Saturdays or Sunday plese let me know. I'll need to know what days you are available and what times you can be there.

Saturdays or Sundays, 2pm to 4pm (or however long the time slots will be around that time).

I've set up with Petco that I'll be there this Saturday at 11am. Didnt comit to an end time, so if anyone wants to come out then or a few hours after that please feel free.

Shirts are here and look pretty good.

I woke up this morning and it hit me... I never made 1/2 page flyers for you to print, David, to hand out at Petco.  I apologize.  I've been so busy with work lately I plum forgot.  I'll bring the cards I have; but maybe you should bring those cards you have that would match our shirts better.  I'll bring payment for my shirt also.  PLEASE remind me if I forget to give it you.  I swear, my memory is getting bad.

We came out to Petco at 2:30 pm...didn't see anyone?

We gave it up and left at 1:30. It went pretty good; But we decided it might be better to go and set up on a day during the weekend of their upcoming %off sale event, or during the dollar a gallon sale event. We only had one guy who seemed interested, other than an employee who also took a flyer. But at least we know what to expect now. And the Petco manager, Lori, and the staff were very accommodating. Shirts look really nice too!

We just need to be a little more aggressive talking to people. Will adjust signage and approach and do better next time.

Guy we met had 8 tanks I think he said and hopefully he'll drop by a meeeting.

Always interesting to get another opinion.

I think the time at Petco last weekend went well and we learned a few things.

1) We need to add some signage that we are a social club with no dues.
2) We need to be just a touch more aggressive about talking to people.
3) possible add a sign up sheet where people can leave an email address for follow-up contact.

I think we agreed that our next visit will be June 6th during their big aquatics sale.

Do we want to take shifts or just be there from 11-whenever like last time?

Dave I will sign up for a time but I do not know when, right now. Dave can you ask if I can bring in a small tank , and some discus in order to to try to get people to stop and talk. Gina could I come by and pick up some pictures of your outdoor tubs to post on the table? Dave can you also ask if we can bring a small display of my lotus seeds at varies stages?

Shifts might be better, maybe in pairs (2 people per shift) to increase time and exposure to more people.  Realistically, we could probably only expect enough people for 2 shifts, max.  I'd think around 1 1/2 hours per shift?  And in our allotted space at Petco, more than 2 people at a time seems to slightly crowd the area.  We don't want our display or members getting in the way of customers if we want to keep on good terms and welcomed back.

Then we'd need to consider who must bring and/or then take home setup display and materials (table, chairs, banner, flyers, pictures, tank, plants).  It might be unreasonably inconvenient or logistically tough to coordinate without doing it all together at one stretch considering each of us contributes different, yet essential things.

Perhaps if all who participate come and bring whatever at the start... then just 1st shift stays.  2nd shift people come back and relieve them halfway through, then the first two people come back at a pre-determined quitting time (if necessary) and pick up their stuff?

Just some thoughts.  I think the basic plan of going June 6th, and ideas to incorporate more and varied display materials, is good.  We just need to figure out how to execute it without it becoming too complicated or potentially inequitably burdensome to some members.  This should be a somewhat simple, enjoyable, and productive project for us, not a headache.  What do you all think?

How about I bring and drop off the card table and 2 chairs at Petco at 11:00, leave; and then come back at 12:30 or 1:00 and stay till 2:30 or 3:00?  Just let me know.

I should be there at 11, I might not be able to make it at all. Should know by tonight.

If I'm there at 11 your plan will be great.

You can change there and I will bring your shirt assuming I come. I'll let everyone know tonight hopefully if I am not going to make it.
