Pekin getting a new Petco

Pekin is getting a new Petco which is not good news for Charlie's.

I guess its good news that there is another option for getting fish and supplies, but bad news that it will probably drive a great Mom and Pop out of business.

I'll still shop at Charlies and let's all hope they hang on.

I don't think Charlies has to sweat it any if the new store is run anything like our petco with crappy half dead fish and too many sales clerks who think they know something. And they just carry the same boring bread and butter fish. Last time I was at Charlies, they had a nice selection of rock and I was thinking of doing a fancy planted tank lay out. But I always feel dumb buying...rocks..heh heh. The only hobby where we buy rocks and sticks...lol.

I agree, but you know the average knucklehead will think that they are saving 10 cents and shop there instead of Charlies.

Hope I'm wrong and Charlies hangs on, but I think it's going to be tough over time.

They are still re-doing the inside so I would guess it won't be soon.

where will it be located? ill need some new tanks im sure lol

It's on the other end of the little strip mall with Hobby Lobby. Kind of behind Culver's.

This Petco is opening July 8th if anyone cares. I'm hoping they start with the $1 a gallon sale right off the bat. I need a couple of 40's.

I will be checking it out for sure. its 5 mins from my house
