Corry's spawning again
Fed them a bunch of blackworms and frozen brine this week then hit with a big water change and presto!
Hope they are fertile.

Yay!!
I was going to ask you what you plan to do with them all! But then I thought about my snails, and how I just had 4 big clutches laid in the past week...
And decided not to ask after all.

Re: Corry's spawning again
Hopefully they will be fertile. This set of Corrys haven't spawned in a while, but they usually are. They last few spawns were in the tank of the younger ones and they havent been fertile.
I'll know in a day or two.

Re: Corry's spawning again
Do you know what causes them to be sometimes fertile and sometimes not? Do you think it had anything to do with the youngsters already in there?

Re: Corry's spawning again
Not really sure. I didnt see them spawn either time, so I dont know if a female was just doing it on her own, or if there even was a male present.
Didnt see this spawn either so it's anybodies guess at this point. These 'look' fertile, but I'm not really sure thats all that reliable.

Cigars all around...
They are so cute! Do you have them in one of those little plastic square "dividers" within another tank (with the orange fishes)?

Re: Corry's spawning again
I put them in the specimen containers, the things pet stores use to hold the bags while they are dippin' fish. Let's me keep them safe in the tank and easier to feed. I have a couple of them with cutouts on the ends with screens melted over the holes so I can have the fresh water come in one side, and circulate out the other without fish getting out.
So far so good with them.
Re: Corry's spawning again
Prety big hatch it seems, here they are eating microworms.

Re: Corry's spawning again
Yea all my tanks in the fishroom are bare bottomed. Easier to clean and easier for the corries to find food.

Re: Corry's spawning again
Sure look different than just two weeks ago. I divided them into two containers as they were beginning to have to sit on each other.
Starting to look like little catfish, must be 120+ of them.

Re: Corry's spawning again
Should be a decent size in a month or so. I'll let everyone know when they are ready.

Here's the latest update:
http://www.citac-il.org/corry5.mov
I've moved them all to a 2.5 gallon tank.
Re: Corry's spawning again
Wigglers, wigglers, everywhere!! I like the video updates. In fact, taking a cue from you, I just took a video a couple of days ago of my snails. Now if I can just get my butt in gear and actually POST the pics and videos I take. Yours give me inspiration - thanks!
So how long do you think the 2.5 gallon will suffice? lol

Re: Corry's spawning again
I will probably move them next week or so into a 10. Depends on how big they get.
Re: Corry's spawning again
I was doing a little cleaning of the tank of the parents of all these babies and found two more babies. Guess I missed those eggs and they hatched and survived. Pretty cool.

Re: Corry's spawning again
Were those "late hatchers" or are they the same size as the other babies?

Re: Corry's spawning again
Here is the latest update. I have moved them to their own 10-gallon tank. Still doing well.

Then I looked into the parents tank and saw these:
Here we go again.....
