Re: advertisement at upcoming cafe auction?
Would they charge us anything to do that?
I guess we could make up some flyers and/or a poster.

Sounds like a good idea if the CAFE group doesn't have any problems or concerns about us doing that.

CAFE Auction
Dear Twin city Aquarists
There will be no problem putting your information down on a table they use for this very purpose at the auction. You will get a free 30% coupon to use at Sailfin when you check in>(to be used that day!) If you ask Jerry or one of the crew they will gladly announce during the auction -the creation of your club and when it meets and what activities you would like to try in the future. If you get big enough and active enough I would highly suggest seeing how MASI (St. Louis) runs there auctions and try to model their auction! They run a very good auction (except there cut is to High!) and I think they would even help you get started on the first one if you asked nicely....
Usually other clubs are very happy to help, except that don't want you to have events the same day as their event....
Much luck on getting a strong club going ~~~~~~~~~~~~~Joe

Thanks for the advice and well wishes Joe, hope to see you at some meetings.
Re: advertisement at upcoming cafe auction?
i agree totally with what joe said about the masi auctions and how they are ran. 60/40 is pretty steap tho. a well ran event like that would do a lot as far as word of mouth for furthering the club in my opinion.

We hope to have auctions and swaps eventually. Just depends on how things go.
Re: advertisement at upcoming cafe auction?
I sent a e mail off to Jerry asking for permission.

Mark,
I talked to Jerrry a few days ago and he said it was fine.
Re: advertisement at upcoming cafe auction?
I made up some leafletts to hand out the 14th. I'm pretty sure I'm going.
Re: advertisement at upcoming cafe auction?
Actually, now I'm pretty sure I'm NOT going. We have both a basketball game and hockey game at the Coliseum Saturday so I'm booked.
Can someone take the flyers with them? I'll bring them to the meeting.
Re: advertisement at upcoming cafe auction?
The quickly printed flyers were set up at the check in table and we got a few announcements during the day. I talked to Phil Nixon, the CAFE president, before putting the materials out. At the time I was on the CAFE board of directors, it helps a bit.

I just noticed they were cut from full sheets after a printing on regular papre. I suppose I was expecting card stock or some such.
