Gill Coloration Empty Gill Coloration

Finally getting my cichlid tank set up the way I want. Added some stone for some caves and it's amazing how much the fish in the tank have colored up in response. My question is, I'm starting to notice some "pearl" colored scales on a lot of the fish and quite a few have developed more colorful patches around their gills. Is this something an illness I should be worried about or is it possible they are simply showing more color. Not very skilled at diagnosing illnesses. Thanks for the help!
