Pantagraph Article
Everyone,
The Pantagraph is going to do an article on the club. It would be nice if everyone would take a few minutes and call the reporter Maddy Hayden at 820-3241 and talk a little about it, and your fish in general.
I dont know when it will run, but I kept asking her to not make it about me - but about the club. Please call her to give her more and different information.
Also dont know what the response to it will be, hopefully big, but I've reserved the Library's Community room for the meeting next month just in case.
Hope everyone calls.
Thanks.
DZ
Re: Pantagraph Article
Just saw this... I'll try to give her a call tomorrow. Not sure what she'll want to know, but I hope I can give some constructive input.
I also need to get some more of the flyers put together with cards to distribute. I think if we each took a few and made it a point to get them put up at different places, now would be the time we might get more interest and response due to the season and everyone being indoors. I will try to have some together and bring to the next meeting.

Early/mid afternoons best to catch Maddy
I called today and they said she was out of the office. Said to call back early/mid-afternoons and would likely catch her. Going to call again tomorrow and try to catch her.

Re: Pantagraph Article
Folks,
Maddie said the article will run Sunday. Things went well tonight with Mark, Becky and I so hopefully it will be a cool article.

What she said!
Me too, Gina... (as we all wait with bated breath to see who "wins" Pantagraph photo roulette). I just hope it gives us some positive exposure and results in new member interest. If so, it will be worth it. And I also hope the headline isn't: "Eccentric Hobby Captivates Geeks"

Yeah thanks David
I hope the title IS "Eccentric hobby captivates Geeks"! We might as well own it.

Was there an article, besides the photos?
I don't get the physical Pantagraph, but looked for it online at the Pantagraph website. I found a prominently placed preview link to a scroll-through picture slide show, which was very nice! But I didn't see an actual "article" anywhere. Was there one? Or, if so, is it only in the paper or paid online version?

Answering my own question...
I ran to the gas station and picked up today's Sunday paper. I see there IS a nice article along with some pictures. Yay!! There are 6 photos in the physical newspaper, and 14 photos online HERE
Would it be illegal to scan the article and post it here in this thread?

Dont think there is any issue with scanning it - I forgot to bring it to work this morning or I would have. Believe the article is only in the print edition.

Online & Newspaper Print Article
Here is a link to the complete online photo spread.
Below is a scan of complete news article published in the Pantagraph print edition. I was impressed that the article was a full-page spread on the front page of the Lifestyle section of the paper, with the conclusion of textual body on the second page of same.
(If text is too small to read in pic below, HERE is the direct link to view in Photobucket - which you can enlarge to read)

Good Job All Around
I thought the article showed some of the great reasons to keep fish and that the club is for everybody, large number of fish or just one aquarium's worth. I hope readers pick up on the positive vibes to this hobby. Everybody looked good, fish and people! Good Job. Pops

Link posted in Joliet Area Reef Club
I sent a link and copy of the online and scanned article to four family members and two friends, one of whom is Ralph. Unbeknownst to me, Ralph apparently has a friend in the Joliet Area Reef Club... because he forwarded me a reply from the guy (to whom I guess he forwarded my email), who put a link to our article up on the JARC forum website! I just thought it was a pretty neat/strange/funny coincidence.
"That is pretty cool Ralph. Thanks for sending it on. I posted it on our reef club here in Joliet. Here's the link if you want to forward it on to Becky."

Re: Pantagraph Article
I just talked to my friend, Ralph, on the phone and he said that yes, he did forward my email to his nephew (Brian) because Brian is really big into aquariums. Turns out he's also apparently a board member/super moderator (screen name Puffer Phish) in the Joliet Area Reef Club. I'm thinking about joining their forum, but not sure, as I don't have any saltwater tanks and not sure it would be relevant to me.
