Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
Hey Sean, welcome back.
Check Craigslist or estate auctions for deals on tanks.
We're not having a meeting this month, but maybe next month.
Good luck.

Welcome back
Hi Sean, I'm Becky. I don't know/remember you, but looking forward to meeting you.
You might also try local newspapers, and even Ebay. It's a crapshoot if you'll find any tanks geologically close enough on Ebay... but you might be surprised, sometimes there are.

Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
Thank ya thank ya!
It'll be a little while before it gets setup.
Still havent decided on what im going to do about filtration.
Either a pair of Fluval FX5's, maybe a pair of FX6's or a pair of Rena XP4's... Decisions decisions.
Always used Rena's on my larger tanks awhile back.

Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
It does look nice. But the pesky OCD perfectionist in me wonders why it's not centered to the wall instead of in the corner...

Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
Its simply out of the way right now.
It'll be a good while before its up and running.
Planning on centering it on that wall though.
I bought a Fluval FX5, some drift wood, and a pair of 6 bulb 36" T5HO light fixtures.
Figuring out what im doing about substrate at the moment.
Also currently shopping for a heater. Had a Hydor ETH inline heater on all of my previous tanks
with cannister filters. Not going to be able to run a Hydor ETH with the FX5.
Well i could but it would be a big PITA.
So, gonna go with an in tank heater with a remote digital thermostat.
Havent decided if im going to drop some more coin on another FX5, a newer FX6 or save a few
bucks and pick up a Rena XP4...Gotta have another cannister, just not sure what im going to do.
The Fluval stuff is expensive!
So, if i go with a Rena, i can definitely tun a Hydor ETH.. Just thought of that.

Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
FX6 are costly, $300 plus is a lot of money for one. I would not be able to tell my wife about that purchase.

Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
If you go with an in tank digital heater stay away from the Aquatop’s. They look nice, but I’ve had 2 of the 3 I’ve got fail.

Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
Well , i need to make a new thread in the general freshwater section.
Ive got dirt in my tank
This is moving along faster then i anticipated..
I got a wild hair up my rear...Centered the tank and added in my first layer of substrate.
Its soaking right now.. Tomorrow i'll mat it all down to make sure there arent any air pockets.
After that, i'll cap it off and move onto my next step.
Need to buy a heater or two, a dual stage co2 regulator, go and rent 2 co2 bottles, and also
still need to purchase a but load of supplies and all that stuff.
I dont have ANYTHING left over. Its crazy.

Re: HEY!!!!!!!!
Well i havent tried it yet..
But for the amount i paid for the damn thing... It should of atleast shown up as described..
Bought it from ebay..
Listing only stated it needed 1 of the retaining screw assembly deals at the top replaced.. It actually needs 2, not THAT big of a deal...
However, in the pictures, the media baskets are full of media..They came empty...And also, the water changing valve is broke. Cant even use it.
The tabs you grab to open/close the valve are broke off.
Yay!
For what i paid, if i would of known it didnt include the media that was pictured, and if i would of known about the valve being broken..
I would of never bidded..
My first FX5 and probably my last.
