Working with Acrylic

Anyone have experience doing this?

I just finished a 42" X 8" X 6" Betta Barracks type structure to house male Bettas. It has 8 removable partitions and water will flow from one end to the other so I can hook it into my central filter system.

It's not the prettiest thing as I learned alot about working with acrylic along the way, but version 2.0 will be much better should I decide that is necessary.

I'll try and post pictures tonight.

Never worked with the stuff before, sounds like you made somethin neat.

I have always wanted to play with but never wanted to put down the money to get the weld-on 3 required to bond two pieces of acrylic. The stuff is pretty cheap but you can't get it in the stores.

I got both types of the weld on, one is like water and works on perfectly flat joints and the other is more like model airplane glue. Works on joints that are not so perfect. Used a lot of that one. :-) I got them on Amazon and they were not that expensive.

Was fun to do. You can find big sheets of the acrylic on sale at Menards for like $40 from time to time.

Not a thing of beauty, but it seems to be working well.

Dang that looks nice what thickness did you use

I used 1/4". Menards had 4X3 sheets for $35 a while back. I made this out of one sheet and some scraps I had.
